Travel Talk with Friends of STOW: Serena Guen

STOW speaks to Friend of STOW Serena Guen, businesswoman, philanthropist and founder of SUITCASE Magazine. She shares her travel tips and tricks.

To where would you most like to stowaway?

I’ve had over a dozen people tell me that Nihi Sumba island is there favourite hotel so I’d like to go there and form my own opinion…

Who would you take with you?

My boyfriend if he is lucky enough…

One essential piece of kit you cannot travel without, and why?

Facial Moisturiser. I travel so much and it’s the only way to keep prevent my skin from turning to sand paper. If I can I use a Crème de La Mer serum and Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Day Cream.

What is your favourite STOW piece, and why?

My favourite STOW piece is the See-View Leather Folio because it fits all kinds of travel documents including a SUITCASE Magazine!

What would you keep in your stowaway envelope?

Some sand from my favourite beach in the Maldives. I become a different person when I’m by the sea and I’d love to be reminded of that.

Luxury or practicality – which one are you?

I don’t think one precludes the other. I’m definitely a bit of both but more on the practical side.

Best piece of travel attire to stay stylish when on the move?

Multiple pairs of sunglasses – I’ve become a big fan of Bailey Nelson recently, they have so many great styles and really good prices.

How do you stay stylish when travelling?

I always bring a big cashmere shawl for the plane and a good pair of trainers.

Best piece of fashion advice you’ve received?

Only wear things that you are comfortable in – you’ll feel happier and therefore look much better.

Who is your travel hero/heroine and why?

Hanli Prinsloo – she curates incredible trips that combine seeing the most amazing things in the ocean, learning to freedive and conservation.

Which luxury item can you not travel without?

It’s not exactly an item but any kind of taxi app is definitely a luxury and makes it so much easier to navigate any new destination.

Keep up-to-date with Serena's adventures by following her on Instagram or by visiting the SUITCASE Magazine website.
