LOUISE PARKER: TRAVEL TALK WITH FRIENDS OF STOW

STOW chats with nutritionist and author Louise Parker to discuss her travel secrets.

To where would you most like to stowaway?

It would be to the Natal, South Africa, where I was born and spent my first 8 years, on a farm in the bush.  We’d head down to the coast at Umhlanga where I spent my holidays – I’d love to see my girls running over the white dunes and hiding in the long grass just as I did as a child.  There’s no place like it.

Who would you take with you?

I’d take Paul (my husband) and my three daughters, Sophie, Emily and Chloe.  And in an ideal world, my parents – my father especially loves this spot of the world – and my brothers and their families – to have us all together would be just the most magical holiday.  I regret not organising this sooner when my parents were more happy to travel and we all had less responsibility.

One essential piece of kit you cannot travel without, and why?

Cashmere – shawl, socks, eye masks – they make the most unpleasant arm of any journey luxurious.

What is your favourite Stow piece, and why?

I adore the See-View Travel Pouch – I keep little love letters from the children in them, photo’s and my weekly things to do list in them – just ten items for the week.  Love letters facing one way, goals the other – when the list seems daunting, I flip over and remind myself why I’m working so hard.

What would you keep in your Stow secret envelope?

A little pendant to swap onto my necklace chain, or two.

Luxury or practicality – which one are you?

It has to be both – luxury doesn’t exist without practicality.

Best piece of travel attire to stay stylish when on the move?

Sunglasses and a crisp white long sleeve T-shirt from Petit Bateau to pop on as you hop off the plane.

How do you stay stylish when travelling?

I blow dry my hair before I go – and keep clothing luxuriously soft, simple and comfortable.

Best piece of fashion advice you’ve received?

Invest in the best shoes, bags and accessories you can.

Which luxury item can you not travel without?

Sarah Chapman hydrating booster and Clinique moisture mask – I slather my skin in both as soon as I take off.
